Arizona StreamPULSE sites are located throughout central Arizona from the Sonoran Desert up to the pinyon-juniper woodlands of the Coconino National Forest. Our main sites are two sampling locations on the Verde River (Lower Verde and Middle Verde) and two of its tributaries, Oak Creek, and Wet Beaver Creek.

Lower Verde River (AZ_LV)
Just upstream of where the Verde River joins the Salt River to serve as Phoenix's water source. The river here consists of occasional riffles and larger pools, but mostly runs, depending upon discharge which is regulated by a dam ~20 miles upstream. Willows shade the edges, forming a canopy in narrow spots. Substrate varies along the reach.

Middle Verde River (AZ_MV)
This stretch of the Verde River is a popular recreation spot, mostly for kayakers, located down stream of Camp Verde, AZ. The channel is fairly wide, surrounded by deciduous trees (willow, cottonwood, etc) and many wetland plants. Substrate is primarily sediment and cobble. Mostly run/pool depending on discharge with occasional riffles.

Oak Creek (AZ_OC)
Our reach of Oak Creek runs through the center of Sedona, AZ with sensors set up just downstream of the Hw 179 bridge. The reach contains a series of pools and riffles and is mostly shaded by deciduous trees (ash, cottonwood, etc).

Wet Beaver Creek (AZ_WB)
Located near Rimrock, AZ. Our reach is mostly riffles with cobble/bedrock substrate. The landscape around the stream is pinyon-juniper woodlands, but the stream is heavily shaded by deciduous trees (ash, cottonwood, etc).

Agua Fria (AZ_AF)
These data were collected near Cordes Lakes, AZ. Deciduous trees line the stream channel.
